Overview KRDO, the ABC affiliate in Colorado Springs, has an immediate opening for an energetic and enterprising news photographer to shoot compelling video for fast-paced news broadcasts and will be required to edit entire newscasts matching video to scripts. The candidate must be able to work in a pressured and competitive environment. Creative editing and live production experience required. Must be flexible in schedule and be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays. Responsibilities Act as reporter at local news location when no reporter is assigned. Gathers information, takes notes as necessary or ensures that basic information is on tape and relayed to the newscast producer. Look for opportunities to capture compelling pictures and communicate with producers and reporters to ensure the best pictures are taken and used in storytelling. Represent the station in a professional manner in the field, including wearing station logo apparel and operating station logo vehicles with responsible driving habits and professional behavior. Collaborate with reporters as a team to obtain the best possible video to tell each story with accuracy and maximum impact. Edit stories as assigned in a professional manner. Monitor news sources and police scanners while traveling on duty and report to Assignment Editor or Producer. Make dubs for viewers and station management as requested. Care and maintenance of cameras and vehicles; report any malfunctions to engineering promptly. Fuels and washes vehicles as needed to keep them ready for the next shift. Maintain and respond to a company cell phone as required for breaking news coverage and emergencies. Other duties and tasks as assigned by station managers. Qualifications Good driving record and valid driver’s license. Two years’ experience and training in news videography, editing and news. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This job is physically demanding and will include driving, lifting, carrying, and walking in all weather conditions. Compensation and Benefits PTO (Paid Time Off) 401k with an Employer Match Salary Annual Salary Range: $18/hour; based on experience. Non-Exempt.
