Job Description

The Teen Education Coordinator ensures appropriate and effective academic programs are developed, implemented, and evaluated for members ages 13 to 18. The Coordinator serves and advocates for all club members by providing targeted support in homework help and core content programming. A major responsibility is to serve as an advisor and mentor to members, supporting the completion of the 'Life after the Club' components. Additional duties include overseeing assigned program staff and managing the program budget. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and document year-round education programs, activities, and events aligned with the Common Core State Standards, 21st Century Skills, BGCB Teen Education Standards, and BGCB Education practices. Monitor and coordinate an academic incentive system for the teen education department. Support members involved in targeted programs who are at risk of failing or dropping out of school. Act as an advocate for older teens (ages 15-18), providing programs to prepare them for transition out of the Clubhouse, including career exploration, mentoring, and college preparation. Plan and execute multi-day college tours, acting as liaison between schools, members, and staff, ensuring all logistics are managed. Manage all aspects of the teen education program, including planning, supervising staff, maintaining budgets, and securing resources. Oversee Club-level goals for Teen Education, aligned with organizational standards and leadership directives. Supervise and discipline program participants as appropriate. Mentor teens (ages 15-18), working closely with a cohort, meeting regularly, and supporting their development in LATC components. Build relationships with program partners, including colleges, funders, and community organizations. Develop and participate in collaborative programs and events with staff and partners, acting as a key liaison. Support summer internship programs by connecting members with employers and opportunities. Maintain records for reporting requirements and compile reports for stakeholders. Engage in professional development activities and participate in organizational initiatives like the Formula For Impact: Academic Success. Maintain professional communication internally and externally. Stay informed on trends in education programming, career exploration, and curriculum design. Orient, train, and supervise staff, work-study students, and volunteers, including conducting performance evaluations. Ensure a safe, clean, and enriching environment. Travel between sites and to activities as needed. Participate in evaluation efforts, including member surveys. Model healthy lifestyles and promote inclusion for members of all abilities. Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills in youth development. Uphold a safe environment free from abuse. Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands): Minimum 1-2 years of experience developing and delivering youth programs; out-of-school time experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of current trends in education programming, curriculum design, and professional development resources. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office and web tools. Ability to work effectively with diverse youth and families. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Flexibility to work club hours as needed.
