About the Role

University Pain Centers, an affiliate of Rush University Medical Center, is seeking A+ candidates—motivated, detail-oriented professionals who take initiative, communicate effectively, and are committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.

As a Certified Medical Assistant, you’ll work with board-certified Pain Physicians and Physician Assistants to play a vital role in supporting our outpatient clinics and ensuring every patient interaction is smooth, efficient, and compassionate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily patient flow and prepare exam/treatment rooms
  • Perform patient intake: vitals, history, allergies, medications, and reason for visit
  • Assist providers with exams and minor procedures
  • Ensure all necessary reports and records are ready for each visit
  • Accurately enter data into the EMR (eClinicalWorks)
  • Schedule tests, referrals, and follow-ups as needed
  • Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam areas and equipment
  • Support front desk or other clinic functions as needed
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and daily team huddles
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification: Active CMA and CPR certification
  • Experience: 1–5 years in a clinical or ambulatory care setting
  • Technical: Proficient with EMRs (especially eClinicalWorks) and basic computer tools
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
  • Flexibility: Willing to travel to Chicago, Oak Park, and Oak Brook locations
