Position Summary

Northside Charter High School seeks a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the past and understand its impact on the present and future. Through engaging lessons and critical discussions, the teacher will help students develop historical thinking skills and a deeper appreciation for global and cultural perspectives. Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in history and social studies, including U.S. history, world history, government, and economics, as applicable.

  • Student Engagement: Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and active participation in discussions about historical events, themes, and their relevance today.

  • Skill Development: Teach students how to analyze primary and secondary sources, construct evidence-based arguments, and develop historical research and writing skills.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Design and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding, provide timely and constructive feedback, and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Differentiation: Adapt instruction to accommodate various learning levels and styles, ensuring all students are supported and challenged.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain an organized, respectful, and stimulating learning environment.

  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues to align curriculum, share resources, and participate in professional learning communities.

  • Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents and guardians about student progress and classroom activities.

  • Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in history instruction and pedagogy.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field.

  • Valid teaching certification for secondary social studies/history (or ability to obtain certification before the start date).

  • Strong knowledge of historical content and pedagogy.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in History, Education, or a related field.

  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) history or dual-credit courses.

  • Familiarity with integrating technology into history instruction.
