				  City of Chesapeake - Public Works Department, Facility Maintenance Division    Are you someone who enjoys working with your hands, solving problems, and seeing a project through to completion?  We're currently seeking a 
 full-time Facility Maintenance Technician I  to join our dynamic Facility Maintenance Division. This is your opportunity to make a real impact-helping to maintain and improve the structural integrity and safety of the city buildings that serve our community every day. 
 
 What You'll Be Doing:    As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, working directly to support the function and appearance of city facilities-from minor renovations to routine upkeep. 
 Duties include, but are not limited to:  -  Performing structural maintenance and repair work, including light construction.  
  -  Locksmith services, including installation, repair, and replacement of locks and door hardware.  
  -  Sheetrock and drywall installation, finishing, and repair.  
  -  Trim carpentry, including installation and repair of baseboards, crown molding, and other finish work.  
  -  Flooring repair and installation for a variety of surfaces.  
  -  Door and window repair, adjustment, and replacement.  
  -  Repairing shingle and built-up roofing systems.  
  -  Completing small-scale structural modifications during building renovations.  
  -  Overseeing and inspecting work performed by contractors to ensure quality and compliance.  
  -  Maintaining detailed records and managing material purchases for assigned projects.

 Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education. 
 EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : 
 In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of six months of related, full-time equivalent experience.   
 SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : 
 Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with 
 City Driving Standards  . Special skills or equipment certification may be required.   
 SPECIAL REQUIREMENT : 
 Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
