Job Summary

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as a senior executive leader responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing the development, implementation, and management of collegewide information technology (IT) systems, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms. In alignment with the Colleges mission and strategic priorities, the CIO provides vision and leadership to create a comprehensive, innovative, and secure technology environment that supports both academic and administrative operations. The CIO fosters a culture of collaboration, service excellence, and continuous improvement, working closely with institutional leadership, faculty, staff, and students to ensure that technology initiatives enhance student success, operational efficiency, and institutional effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Planning Implement IT goals and initiatives outlined in the Colleges Strategic Plan; collaborate with senior leadership to align IT strategies; serve as a strategic advisor on technology trends and enterprisewide system integration.
  • Technology Operations & Infrastructure Oversee planning, development, and support of collegewide information systems, infrastructure, and enterprise applications; lead implementation and continuous improvement of the Colleges ERP system.
  • Governance & Collaboration Work closely with academic, student affairs, and administrative leaders to assess technology needs; build strong relationships across divisions; establish and lead IT governance committees; create crossdepartmental committees to monitor IT initiatives.
  • Communication & User Support Provide clear communication regarding IT services, project progress, and system changes; offer consultative support to departments; promote transparency and accessibility of IT services; develop and publish service level agreements (SLAs) and performance dashboards; conduct regular user satisfaction surveys.
  • Resource Management & Budgeting Develop and manage IT department budgets; prioritize technology resources; maintain documentation and inventories for financial planning and compliance.
  • Staff Development & Supervision Perform all personnel management functions for the IT/MIS department, including hiring, supervision, and professional development; develop an annual training plan.
  • Security, Compliance & Data Integrity Ensure security, integrity, and confidentiality of institutional data; maintain backup and disaster recovery protocols; enforce IT policies and governance frameworks for regulatory compliance.
  • Performance Management & Continuous Improvement Compile and evaluate performance metrics; identify and implement process improvements; promote lifecycle and continuous improvement models across IT/MIS operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology.
  • At least three (3) years of managerial experience in a higher education setting, including direct supervision of an MIS department.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the open access mission of community colleges and contribution to a culture of student success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in an information technologyrelated field.
  • Proven leadership in information technology with a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of technologies.
  • Experience in design, development, and implementation of integrated ERP systems in higher education.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, ITSM, and principles of lifecycle and continuous improvement.

Salary

Salary Range: $130,000 $150,000 annually with an excellent benefits package.
