Position Overview

The Bar Chef is responsible for food preparation, plating, and supporting kitchen operations at the restaurant. This position works on the prep and service “bar” area of the kitchen, ensuring that meals, snacks, and event menus are prepared with consistency, speed, and quality. The Bar Chef collaborates with the Head Chef and kitchen team to maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Food Preparation & Service

• Prepare and plate menu items, snacks, and children’s meals according to recipes and standards.

• Assist with preparation of party and event menus (birthday packages, seasonal events, group catering).

• Maintain food presentation and portion control at all times.

• Work at the kitchen bar station during service hours to assemble and serve orders efficiently.

✅ Kitchen Operations

• Support the Head Chef with prep work including chopping, cutting, mixing, and portioning.

• Keep the prep/bar station stocked with necessary ingredients and supplies.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.

• Assist with receiving, labeling, and storing food deliveries.

✅ Safety & Compliance

• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.

• Ensure compliance with health department standards.

• Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or low stock to the Chef or Manager.

✅ Teamwork

• Work closely with kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth service.

• Assist in training new kitchen team members on prep and plating standards.

• Provide support for special events, seasonal parties, and high-volume service periods.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or chef in a restaurant setting preferred.

• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Team player with a positive, reliable attitude.

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.

• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
